Needs a signed-in account. The Apple Watch companion receives an account connection from the paired iPhone. The Sign in on iPhone screen asks you to open the phone app yourself; it does not mean that the Watch has a separate email sign-in form.
Try this first
- Open BillPad on the paired iPhone.
- Check that you are signed into the expected account.
- Keep the phone and Watch available to communicate, then reopen BillPad on the Watch.
- Distinguish the sign-in screen from an offline view showing previously cached invoices.
Possible causes
The Watch may not have received an account connection, or its session may no longer be valid. Signing out on the phone affects the account connection available to the companion. A cached view can show older data when current requests cannot complete.
Continue on iPhone is explanatory text on the Watch gate, not a button that remotely opens the phone app. Tapping that hint repeatedly cannot complete sign-in. The Subscribe to BillPad screen is a different state from the sign-in gate and should be reported separately if it appears during the current no-paywall rollout.
Fix the problem
- Finish sign-in in the iPhone app using the original account identity.
- Check Settings, Your account on the phone and allow its records to sync.
- Open the Watch companion again and allow account information to arrive.
- When an invoice list is available, pull to refresh it before relying on a recent payment or balance.
- If the phone itself cannot sign in, resolve that problem using the email, Apple or Google troubleshooting guide first.
Do not recreate an invoice or record a payment again merely because the Watch has an older balance. Confirm the latest record on the phone before repeating a financial action. The Watch is a companion view, while detailed edits belong in the main app.
