BillPad says storage is unavailable or full

Export unsaved changes before closing the page and distinguish storage from the document limit.

A storage warning can mean that your newest changes exist only in the open page. The priority is to export those changes before closing, reloading or clearing anything. A visible invoice is not by itself proof that it was successfully saved.

Try this first

  1. Keep the affected page open and stop making additional edits.
  2. Choose Settings, Export backup.
  3. Check that the JSON file was downloaded and keep it somewhere you can find again.
  4. Record the exact warning so you can distinguish unavailable storage from unreadable records or a sync error.

Possible causes

The browser may be unable to write local storage because it is full or restricted. Browser capacity varies; the workspace usage display is not a guarantee of remaining storage. A sync operation can also fail to save its local metadata, even when some invoice records are already present.

The shared 100-document beta limit is separate from browser storage capacity. Archiving retains records, so it does not release document slots. Clearing all site data would remove much more than an old warning and may erase your only local workspace.

Fix the problem

  1. Protect the current workspace with Export backup before changing browser settings.
  2. Review whether the browser permits site storage and whether the device has available space. Avoid deleting BillPad's data as a first step.
  3. Once the backup is safe, use a browser profile that permits persistent storage if the current one remains restricted.
  4. If you need to restore, use Restore backup, read its replacement confirmation and inspect the restored records.
  5. For a sync-specific error, check Your account and use Retry after resolving storage availability.

If the warning says saved records could not be read, BillPad deliberately avoids overwriting them. Keep the page and original backup intact while investigating. Do not hand-edit your only backup to make it pass validation.

Still stuck

Email [email protected] with the warning, browser and whether export succeeded. Mention any recent restore or import. Keep client data and the full backup private unless a specific example is needed.
