This warning means another tab has changed the browser workspace since this page loaded its copy. BillPad stops the older page from overwriting newer records. Treat it as a request to reconcile your open pages, especially if both contain edits.
Try this first
- Stop editing in the tab showing the warning.
- Keep that tab open if it contains changes you want to preserve.
- Choose Settings, Export backup before reloading it.
- Find other BillPad tabs in the same browser profile and identify where you last worked.
Possible causes
Two tabs can hold different in-memory versions of the same local records. Saving in one makes the other copy stale. Recurring generation and ordinary edits both need to avoid replacing records that changed elsewhere.
This is a local workspace warning, not a statement that your account password is wrong. It can appear without an account. Repeated editing in the stale tab does not resolve the underlying difference, and a refresh can discard unsaved changes that exist only in that page.
Fix the problem
- Save a backup from any tab with unique unsaved work. Keep the files distinguishable so you know which page each came from.
- Inspect the newer tab's invoices and payments before closing it.
- Reload the warned tab once its unique work is protected.
- Review the records now loaded from browser storage.
- Continue editing in one tab and carefully reapply any genuinely missing changes using the backup as a reference.
Restore backup replaces the local workspace; it is not an automatic merge of two tabs. Do not restore one copy over another merely to remove the warning. If both copies contain important differences, keep both backups and contact support before replacing either.
Still stuck
Email [email protected] with the warning and what you changed in each tab. Mention whether recurring schedules or sync were active. Keep the backup files yourself unless support requests a specific redacted example.
