The iPhone app sends generated PDFs to the native share sheet. A browser uses its available sharing or download behaviour. Identify which environment you are using before troubleshooting, because the same invoice action can lead to different destination choices.
Try this first
- Open the invoice and review any validation messages.
- Check the preview, business name, client and line items.
- Choose Download PDF or Share once and allow the operation to finish.
- Check whether the share sheet opened and is waiting for you to choose a destination.
Possible causes
A document validation error can stop PDF generation before sharing begins. Unsupported text can also prevent export: the bundled fonts support Latin text and common punctuation. The error identifies the field that needs attention.
After generation, native sharing depends on the phone's sharing services and available destinations. If the native handoff fails, BillPad displays a message and tries a browser download. That fallback can behave differently inside an app. Cancelling a destination is not proof that a file was delivered to the recipient.
Fix the problem
- Correct any indicated document field, then inspect Preview again.
- If the error mentions unsupported characters, follow the character guide below; Print is the suggested alternative for other scripts where available.
- Retry Download PDF, select a suitable destination offered by iOS and finish that destination's save or send action.
- Open the resulting file to confirm it is the correct invoice and contains readable text.
- If a downloaded copy exists, attach that copy manually rather than creating repeated invoices.
Keep a workspace backup before restarting the app if it reports storage or save problems. A saved PDF is a readable copy, but it does not restore the editable workspace. Sharing a file also does not record payment.
Still stuck
Email [email protected] with the iPhone/iOS version, whether this was the app or browser, the exact error and whether the share sheet appeared. Redact invoice details from any example.
