Needs a signed-in account: enabling Stripe payments on your invoice. BillPad's current Stripe payment flow is test-only and the app labels it PAYMENTS · TEST MODE. Do not use this flow to collect real client money. A missing button may be expected for an ineligible document.
Try this first
- Open Settings, Payments and read the Stripe connection status.
- Check that the document is an invoice with an outstanding balance.
- Confirm Accept card payments is enabled when offered.
- Open the current hosted invoice link rather than an old saved screenshot or revoked link.
Possible causes
The connected Stripe account must be able to accept charges. Quotes, credit notes, samples, archived or void documents are not eligible for payment checkout. A paid invoice has no remaining amount to collect. The hosted snapshot and current document can also have card payments disabled.
An incomplete Stripe connection, revoked share or failed network request can prevent checkout. Returning from a payment page alone is not proof that BillPad has recorded a verified successful payment. Repeated manual payment entries can create a misleading balance.
Fix the problem
- Finish the offered Connect Stripe setup and review its status in Payments.
- On the invoice, check the balance and Accept card payments setting.
- Use Send, Copy link to create or refresh the hosted snapshot, then inspect it again.
- If checkout reports the invoice is already paid, review payment records instead of attempting another payment.
- After a test payment, allow server verification and sync to finish before checking the recorded amount.
Successful verified Stripe events add a card payment automatically. Do not add the same payment manually just because the first screen has not refreshed. Manual refund records in BillPad also do not initiate a Stripe refund.
Still stuck
Email [email protected] with the connection status, exact error and whether failure occurred before or after checkout. Do not send card details, credentials or secret keys. Keep any payment reference available for follow-up.
