Needs a signed-in account. BillPad's Stripe integration connects invoice payments to your own Stripe account. The current flow is test-only: the app labels the section PAYMENTS · TEST MODE, and it accepts Stripe test configuration. Do not use this flow to collect real client money today.
Connect for testing
- Open Settings and find Payments.
- Choose Connect Stripe and complete the available Stripe setup.
- Return to BillPad and check the connection status.
- Open an invoice and enable Accept card payments when the control is available.
- Use Send and Copy link to create a hosted invoice snapshot.
- Open that link to review the client-facing document and payment action.
If Stripe setup is incomplete, finish the setup before expecting a payment to proceed. The connected account must be able to accept charges. A quote, credit note, archived document or invoice with no amount due is not a normal payable invoice.
What the client sees
The hosted invoice offers Pay now when card payments are enabled and a balance is due. Choosing it opens a Stripe-hosted checkout for the current outstanding amount. Test mode requires test cards; no production payment capability is promised by these instructions.
The payment amount is checked against the stored invoice on the server. If the balance is already cleared, the page can report that the invoice is already paid instead of starting another checkout.
Good to know
A verified successful Stripe test event adds a card payment record automatically. Returning from checkout alone is not proof of payment, so allow verification and sync to finish before checking the invoice balance. Do not record the same payment again manually.
BillPad does not store card numbers. Stripe handles the payment page. BillPad's subscription plans are separate from paying one of your invoices; a client's Pay now action is not a BillPad plan purchase. Contact support if the test connection or payment status remains unclear.
