Google sign-in fails or opens the wrong workspace

Retry Google sign-in safely and check that you used the expected account identity.

Needs a signed-in account: syncing your records after Google sign-in. If the Google flow fails, keep any existing local workspace intact. A provider error does not establish that your invoices have disappeared.

Try this first

  1. Check that your device has an internet connection.
  2. Start from BillPad's Continue with Google button again rather than an old callback page.
  3. Confirm that you select the Google account you previously used with BillPad.
  4. If you have unsynced local edits, use Settings, Export backup before changing browser profiles.

Possible causes

The browser sign-in flow is time-limited and depends on its original browser session. An expired flow, a missing sign-in cookie or an unsuccessful provider response can produce an invalid-sign-in error. Completing a different Google identity can lead to a different BillPad account.

A message that the provider is not configured indicates a service configuration problem. Repeatedly clearing local invoices will not fix that condition. The verified email returned by the provider identifies the BillPad account, so a different email is significant even if both identities belong to you.

Fix the problem

  1. Return to BillPad and choose Continue with Google.
  2. Complete the provider screens in the browser where the flow began. Avoid moving only the callback URL to a second browser.
  3. If your browser blocks cookies for BillPad, review that setting and retry the fresh flow.
  4. Once signed in, open Settings, Your account and compare the displayed email with your other device.
  5. Allow sync to complete before deciding whether records are missing.

An email link can be an alternative when it reaches the same verified email identity. Do not assume a different email address will merge two workspaces. Preserve a backup if you are unsure which account owns the local data.

Still stuck

Email [email protected] with the exact error and whether it occurred before or after Google returned to BillPad. Do not include callback URLs, passwords or sign-in tokens.
