An email sign-in link gives access to your account without a password. A missing email and an expired link need different checks. Keep your current workspace open while investigating, especially if you have changes that have not synced.
Try this first
- Check the email address entered on the sign-in screen.
- Look in spam, junk and any filtered folders for the BillPad message.
- Use the newest requested link promptly; do not forward it to anyone.
- If you see a resend countdown, wait for it to finish before requesting again.
Possible causes
Links are single-use and expire after 15 minutes. An already used link cannot start another session. A successful request message does not prove that the email reached your inbox; delivery can fail or filtering can hold it back.
The service permits five requests per email address per hour and 20 requests per IP address per minute. People sharing a network can share the IP limit. The screen normally waits 60 seconds before resending and can wait longer after a rate-limit response.
Fix the problem
- Choose Use a different email if the address was mistyped, then choose Email me a link.
- For an expired or used link, choose Resend sign-in link when available.
- Open the new email and complete sign-in without repeatedly reopening the old link.
- After sign-in, check Your account in Settings and allow sync to complete.
Sign-in and sync are available in the BillPad iPhone and Android apps and are rolling out on the web. If you don't see Sign in in Settings, you can keep using BillPad without an account.
Still stuck
Email [email protected] with the error text, device and approximate request time. Never send the sign-in link itself. For provider-specific errors, use the Google or Apple guide below.
