Use Other app when your invoice system is not listed or its export headers do not match a recognised profile. The important part is the meaning of each column, not the name of the app that produced the file.
How to export from another app
- In the source app, open the report or export for invoices.
- Export as CSV or XLSX with column names in the first row.
- Include invoice number, issue date, client name and total, or enough line details to calculate that total.
- Include due date, currency, tax and paid amounts where possible.
- Keep the original export and work from a separate copy if you need to rearrange it.
Match your columns
- In BillPad Settings, choose Start import, Invoices, then Other app.
- Choose Choose file and select the export.
- Open Match columns and map each field by meaning.
- Confirm the date order when BillPad asks whether
03/04/2026means 3 April or March 4. - Compare the preview totals and skipped rows with the original report before confirming.
For example, Legacy ref can map to invoice number, Issued on to date, Buyer label to client and Net payable to total if those meanings are correct in your export. These are examples, not required header names.
Good to know
ISO dates, English month names and Excel 1900-system serial dates are supported. Convert a 1904-system workbook to CSV with explicit dates before importing. Only the first XLSX worksheet is read. Files are limited to 5 MB and 5,000 rows.
Invoice lines group by number and client. Duplicate invoices are skipped; the import does not silently overwrite their existing payment history. Review tax warnings, inferred payment dates and totals mismatches before accepting the result.
If the file contains products or clients instead, select that data type and review its separate mapping. A client opening balance column does not recreate invoice history. Contact support with a redacted header and sample row if the correct mapping is unclear.
